UPSC Prelims 1987 · Agriculture · Farm Money
Largest allocation in the Seventh Five-Year Plan has been given to
- (a) Agriculture
- (b) Transport
- (c) Education
- (d) Energy
Show the answer and explanation
Answer: (d) Energy
Energy received about 30% of the Seventh Plan outlay — the largest head.
Why the others are wrong
(a) Agriculture (with rural development and irrigation) was important, but energy took the largest single share.
(b) Transport was a big head but below energy.
(c) Education was much smaller.
The trap
The Seventh Plan stressed “food, work and productivity”, which makes agriculture sound like the biggest allocation.
🔒 Seventh Plan (1985–90): energy largest outlay; focus: food, work, productivity.
