Lakes of the World: asked and not asked.

UPSC has asked 11 of these 24. 4 came more than once. 13 have not come yet. Lock the repeated ones first, then read the rest.

First, the concept

The Caspian Sea is the largest lake of all, and salty. Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake by area; Lake Baikal holds the most fresh water and is the deepest and oldest.

Rift valley lakes are long and deep: Tanganyika, Malawi, Baikal. Lakes in dry basins with no outlet turn salty: the Dead Sea, the Great Salt Lake.

UPPCS asks the record lakes and the lake–country pair.
