Show the answer and explanation

Answer: (b) 2 only

Only the Rangeet statement is right.

Statement by statement

1. ✗ WRONG The Teesta rises from the Tso Lhamo / Zemu glacier in north Sikkim; the Brahmaputra rises near Mansarovar.

2. ✓ CORRECT The Rangeet rises in Sikkim (Kangchenjunga glaciers) and joins the Teesta.

3. ✗ WRONG The Teesta joins the Brahmaputra (Jamuna) in Bangladesh, not the Bay on the border.

Why the others are wrong

(a) Both 1 and 3 are wrong.

(c) The Teesta ends in the Brahmaputra.

(d) Two statements are wrong.

The trap

The Teesta crosses into Bangladesh — which suggests it reaches the sea there.

🔒 Teesta: Sikkim → WB → Bangladesh → Brahmaputra. India–Bangladesh water-sharing dispute.
