Operation Flood refers to
- (a) Use of preventive measures for flood devastation
- (b) A study about floods
- (c) Dairy development for increased milk production
- (d) None of these
Show the answer and explanation
Answer: (c) Dairy development for increased milk production
Operation Flood (1970) built a national milk grid of village cooperatives — the White Revolution.
The idea
Run by the National Dairy Development Board under Verghese Kurien, on the Anand (Amul) model. It made India the world’s largest milk producer.
Village milk cooperative → district union (e.g. Amul) → State federation → national milk grid
Why the others are wrong
(a) The name is a metaphor, not about rivers.
(b) Not a study of floods.
(d) Option (c) is exactly what Operation Flood was.
The trap
The word “flood” pulls you to disasters. Think of a flood of MILK.
🔒 Operation Flood (1970) = White Revolution · NDDB · Kurien · Anand pattern cooperatives.
