The great Indian Bustard is found in

Show the answer and explanation

Answer: (b) Rajasthan

The Great Indian Bustard is found mainly in Rajasthan’s Thar grasslands.

The idea

India’s grasslands have long been recorded as “wasteland” and given away for farms, plantations and now solar and wind projects. The birds that depend on them, the bustards, have declined more than almost any other group.

Great Indian bustard: Thar desert, Rajasthan → Lesser florican: monsoon grasslands of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh → Bengal florican: terai grasslands and Assam

Also know

All three are Critically Endangered. A breeding centre for the great Indian bustard runs near Jaisalmer, where chicks are hatched from eggs collected in the wild.

🔒 GIB: Rajasthan (Desert NP), small numbers in Gujarat; fewer than 150 left.
