"Momentum for Change: Climate Neutral Now" is an initiative launched by

Show the answer and explanation

Answer: (c) The UNFCCC Secretariat

The UNFCCC secretariat launched “Climate Neutral Now” in 2015 and ran it until the end of 2024.

The idea

Climate neutral means your net greenhouse gas emission is zero: what you still emit is balanced by an equal amount reduced elsewhere. The initiative, which ended in 2024, asked companies, cities and people to do this voluntarily in three steps.

Measure your emissions → Reduce what you can → Offset the rest with UN-certified credits → Net emission = zero

Why the others are wrong

(a) The IPCC only reviews research and writes assessment reports. It runs no programmes for companies or citizens.

The trap

UNEP is the obvious environment body, but this is a UNFCCC initiative.

Also know

The credits used for offsetting come from the UNFCCC’s own Clean Development Mechanism. That is why the UNFCCC secretariat (at Bonn, Germany) ran this initiative until the end of 2024, rather than UNEP. Know the three bodies: IPCC = assesses the science; UNFCCC = the treaty and its secretariat; UNEP = the UN’s environment programme (Nairobi).

🔒 Climate Neutral Now (2015) = UNFCCC secretariat.
