Answer: (c) 3 only

GIM is about forest cover and climate response.

Statement by statement

1. ✗ NO Green accounting of budgets is not its aim.

2. ✗ NO A second green revolution is an agriculture goal, not this mission’s.

3. ✓ YES GIM (one of the 8 NAPCC missions) aims to restore and increase forest cover and respond to climate change through adaptation and mitigation.

The idea

The Green India Mission is one of the eight missions of the National Action Plan on Climate Change (2008). It treats forests as a climate tool: growing forests absorb carbon (mitigation) and healthy forests protect water, soil and livelihoods when the climate changes (adaptation).

Increase forest and tree cover on 5 million hectares → Improve the quality of forest on another 5 million hectares → More carbon stored → Better water, soil and forest-based income

The trap

“Green” pulls towards green accounting and the green revolution.

🔒 Green India Mission (NAPCC): increase forest/tree cover on 5 million ha + improve quality on another 5 million ha.
