Show the answer and explanation
Answer: (d) World Bank
The BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) is managed by the World Bank.
The idea
Most forest is lost to farming, not to logging. So saving forest needs work on the whole landscape: farms, grazing land and forest together. This World Bank fund pays for emission cuts across a whole province or state, not for single forest patches.
Farms expand into forest → Fund supports better farming and land-use planning in the whole region → Less pressure on forest → Emissions from land fall → Fund pays for the verified result
The trap
Most forest-carbon funds are World Bank-run.
Also know
The initiative began in 2013 and has programmes in Colombia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Mexico and Zambia. The World Bank was the pioneer of carbon funds, starting with the Prototype Carbon Fund in 1999, so a forest-carbon fund in a question usually leads to the World Bank.
