‘Khasi’ and ‘Garo’ tribes mainly live in

Show the answer and explanation

Answer: (b) Meghalaya

Khasi and Garo tribes live in Meghalaya (Khasi, Jaintia and Garo hills).

The idea

A hill region may contain several distinct communities rather than one tribe for the whole State. Match the named people to the regional hill groups. Shared customs do not make their languages or identities identical.

Why the others are wrong

(c) Chhota Nagpur has Santhal, Munda, Oraon.

Also know

Jaintia or Pnar communities are also associated with Meghalaya. Khasi is an Austroasiatic language, whereas Garo belongs to the Tibeto-Burman group. Matrilineal descent traces family membership through the mother; it does not automatically mean that women hold every political or public office.
