Show the answer and explanation
Answer: (d) 1, 2 and 3
The Dibang, Kameng and Lohit all join the Brahmaputra.
The idea
A tributary adds water to the main river instead of forming an independent sea outlet. Several mountain valleys can feed the same lowland trunk. A river’s local name may change where it leaves the hills, so a changed name does not imply a changed basin.
Why the others are wrong
(a) The Kameng and Lohit are also tributaries.
(b) The Dibang is also a tributary.
(c) The Kameng (Jia Bharali) is also a tributary.
Also know
Kameng is called Jia Bharali in Assam. Subansiri and Manas are other northern tributaries of the Brahmaputra. Siang is the Indian upper course of the Tibetan Tsangpo, while Barak belongs to the separate Surma–Meghna system. Teesta joins the Brahmaputra’s Bangladesh course, called Jamuna.
🔒 Siang + Dibang + Lohit form the Brahmaputra near Sadiya. Right bank: Subansiri, Kameng, Manas, Sankosh, Teesta.
