Which one of the following is also known as Top Slip?

Show the answer and explanation

Answer: (d) Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park

Top Slip is in the Indira Gandhi (Anamalai) Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park, Tamil Nadu — named after logs “slipped” downhill from the top.

The idea

Top Slip is a point high in the Anamalai hills of Tamil Nadu. In British times teak logs were slid down the slope from here to the plains, which gave the place its name. It is the visitor centre of the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park, now the Anamalai Tiger Reserve.

Teak cut on the hill top → Logs slipped down the slope → “Top Slip” → Today: entry point of Anamalai Tiger Reserve

Why the others are wrong

(a) Simlipal is in Odisha.

(b) Periyar is in Kerala.

(c) Manjira is in Telangana (crocodiles).

Also know

Anamalai means “elephant hill”. The reserve adjoins Parambikulam in Kerala, and shelters the lion-tailed macaque and the Nilgiri tahr. Tribes of the area include the Kadar and the Malasar.

🔒 Top Slip = Anamalai (Indira Gandhi) Tiger Reserve, Coimbatore (TN).
