Match List-I (Minerals) with List-II (Location): A. Coal · B. Copper · C. Manganese · D. Lignite — 1. Giridih · 2. Jayamkondam · 3. Alwar · 4. Dharwar
- (a) 1 4 3 2
- (b) 2 3 4 1
- (c) 1 3 4 2
- (d) 2 4 3 1
Show the answer and explanation
Answer: (c) 1 3 4 2
Coal – Giridih · copper – Alwar · manganese – Dharwar · lignite – Jayamkondam.
The idea
A matching list can mix coal basins with metallic-mineral belts. The geological setting is the organising rule: lignite belongs to younger sedimentary deposits, while copper and manganese are tied to other ore-bearing rocks. A named deposit is more precise than a broad regional mining label.
Why the others are wrong
(a) Gives copper to Dharwar.
(b) Gives coal to Jayamkondam.
(d) Gives coal to Jayamkondam.
The trap
Jayamkondam (TN) = lignite is the anchor.
Elimination technique
Giridih–coal leaves (a) and (c). Jayamkondam–lignite fits both, so the copper–Alwar pair is needed to select (c).
Also know
Neyveli is a sister lignite anchor to Jayamkondam. Khetri is another Rajasthan copper location, while Balaghat and Bhandara are manganese anchors. Giridih belongs to the wider Damodar Gondwana coal family.
🔒 Jayamkondam lignite (near Neyveli).
